Walk, Eat & Drink at Great Tew

A pleasant 1/2 hour drive from Paxford is the wonderful village of Great Tew. It's a favourite spot of ours, with a fabulous café and pub, so perfect for combining a walk with lunch, a lazy drink or dinner!

In July 2023 we had a wonderful lunch at Quince & Clover, where we had the pleasure of meeting Milou the Wire Fox Terrier who was visiting the Cotswolds and is something of a star on Instagram (@Milouthewft). Quince & Clover offers thoughtful seasonal menus for breakfast, brunch or lunch and produces their own ice cream and homemade artisan cakes, cookies, sausage rolls and fabulous seasonal salads. We visit every few weeks and have enjoyed their Pumpkin Soup, Poached Eggs with Mushrooms on Sourdough toast (with a side of bacon), Mixed Salad and a delicious spicy Dall - all absolutely scrumptious. The pastries are also delicious, Julie thinks the Mince Tart is the best she's eaten!

Quince and Clover are open 6 days a week from 8:30 to 16:00 (closed Tuesdays), and you don't need to book, just walk in. Another firm favourite, the historic Falklands Arms is just a couple of doors up, perfect for a pint, lunch or dinner after your walk.

There are a couple of options for walks from Great Tew, you can spend a pleasant 1/2 hour strolling around the village, but to work up an appetite, try this one on Kermoot:
